O.D. & I.D. Grinding

"O.D.", "Cylindrical Grinding", or "Center Type Grinding" is the precision grinding of the outer surface of any round work piece such as motor shafts, axle shafts, rolls, mandrels, tapered shafts, multi-step parts, etc.  In most cases the work-piece is held rigidly at both ends between centers.

• We can grind outside diameters on parts up to 14” diameter x 42” long.

• Diameter tolerances as close as .0002”, and surface finishes to 4 micro inch.

• A true axis of rotation and concentricity on multi-step parts will be held to required specifications.

Internal or I.D. Grinding is a method where the inside diameter or cylindrical opening in a work piece is ground to a precision size and surface finish.  Parts such as bushings, rollers, bearings, tubing, etc. often require this operation.

• We can grind inside diameters of parts up to 8” long x 8” diameter.

• Diameter tolerances as close as .0002 and surface finishes to 8 micro inch.
