Straightening
The straightness of bar
stock is one variable that is often overlooked when
considering how machine parts are to be made, or for what
applications they're to utilized. (e.g. Mixer shafts &
pump shafts).
Our Precision straightening
capabilities include round bar up to 10” diameter x 30'
long, and pre-machined shafts 6” diameter x 20' long between
centers.
Special straightness
requirements can be specified for sizes up to 1” diameter at
the rate of .003” per foot of length, and sizes over 1”
diameter at the rate of .0015” per ft of length - (T.I.R. –
Total Indicator Runout).
Tighter straightness
tolerances are obtainable depending on the application, type
of material, size, and length. Tolerances as tight as
.0005” per foot can be achieved.
For Centerless Grinding
operations, additional straightening may be desired to
obtain closer than standard diameter tolerances and surface
finishes.
